Student seminar ‘‘Step by Step: How to be the BEST of the BEST”
Become the best of the best!
On November 7-8, the annual Riga Technical University (RTU) student seminar ‘‘Step by Step: How to be the BEST of the BEST” will take place. This year, participants will gather at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LVKĶI) in Riga – the main location and one of the challenge partners of the event.
The seminar aims to develop students’ professional and personal skills, focusing on soft skills such as communication, presentation, teamwork, and leadership. Over two intensive days, students will attend lectures, workshops, and discussions with partner companies, as well as solve real-life business cases prepared by the event’s main supporters – Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LVKĶI), DNB Bank (DNB), and MSC Shared Service Center Riga (MSC).
This year’s challenges include:
- Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry Challenge – ‘‘Green University’’: Students will develop and present a project that improves university sustainability through energy efficiency, waste reduction, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among students.
- DNB Bank Challenge – Regional Service Center: Teams will evaluate the opportunities and risks of opening a new service center in a Latvian region, focusing on workforce availability, training needs, and language proficiency.
- MSC Shared Service Center Riga- Presentation: A session dedicated to project management insights and real examples from company practice.
The seminar will be held in English. The event is organized by BEST-Riga in collaboration with RTU Well-being and Career Support Center.

7.-8. novembrī norisināsies ikgadējais Rīgas Tehniskās universitātes (RTU) studentu seminārs “Step by Step: How to be the BEST of the BEST”. Šogad dalībnieki pulcēsies Latvijas Valsts koksnes ķīmijas institūtā (LVKĶI) Rīgā – pasākuma galvenajā norises vietā un vienā no uzdevumu partneriem.
Semināra mērķis ir attīstīt studentu profesionālās un personīgās prasmes, īpaši pievēršoties soft skills jeb mīksto prasmju pilnveidei – komunikācijai, prezentēšanai, komandas darbam un līderībai. Divu intensīvu dienu laikā studenti piedalīsies lekcijās, darbnīcās un diskusijās ar sadarbības partneriem, kā arī risinās reālas uzņēmumu sagatavotas problēmsituācijas. Šī gada galvenie atbalstītāji ir Latvijas Valsts koksnes ķīmijas institūts (LVKĶI), DNB Banka (DNB) un MSC Shared Service Center Riga (MSC).
Šī gada izaicinājumi:
- Latvijas Valsts koksnes ķīmijas institūta izaicinājums – “Zaļā universitāte”: studentiem būs jāizstrādā un jāprezentē projekts, kas veicina universitātes ilgtspējību, uzlabojot energoefektivitāti, mazinot atkritumus un sekmējot veselīgu dzīvesveidu studentu vidū.
- DNB Bankas izaicinājums – Reģionālais servisa centrs: komandām būs jāizvērtē iespējas un riski, kas saistīti ar jauna servisa centra izveidi kādā no Latvijas reģioniem, īpaši pievēršot uzmanību darbaspēka pieejamībai, apmācību vajadzībām un valodu prasmju līmenim.
- MSC Shared Service Center Riga prezentācija – sesija, kas veltīta projektu vadības principiem un praktiskiem piemēriem no uzņēmuma pieredzes.
Seminārs notiks angļu valodā.
Pasākumu organizē BEST-Riga (Board of European Students of Technology – Riga) sadarbībā ar RTU Labklājības un karjeras atbalsta centru.
